PEER
SUPPORT: In order to participate in the Peer Support Program, persons must talk to our Peer Support Coordinator and come in for an intake appointment. Meetings are held throughout the month and there is more than one group to participate in. The Peer Support Coordinator promotes an atmosphere of confidentiality, openness, and mutual respect.
ADVOCACY: In order to receive the help of an advocate, a persons must contact the office for an initial appointment to discuss the issue or problem. The consumer has the right to state and establish his or her own goals. The advocate can provide information and support to the consumer.
TRAINING &
EDUCATION: Trainings are hosted by Mainstream free of charge to all who wish to participate. Trainings are held regularly and consist of workshops and speakers covering a wide range of issues, from life skills, to budgeting time and money, to legal issues such as the ADA and Social Security. In order to participate in the trainings, a person must register by calling the office of Mainstream.
INFORMATION &
REFERRAL: Information about access, independence, and other related topics can be obtained through the Information and Referral Specialist. In order to receive such information, a consumer must call Mainstream and talk with the Information and Referral Specialist. This person will take your request, name, telephone number, and address and your request will be processed within three (3) working days.
JOB
PLACEMENT: In order for persons to participate in Mainstream’s Job Placement Program, a person must come into the office for an initial appointment. The Employment Specialist then can refer a prepared individual to an employer who is hiring. The consumer will be helped with the development of resumes and cover letters to potential employees. There is also a Job Hunt Club offered weekly. Daily copies of the local newspaper classified ads are provided at these meetings and other trainings, classes and activities are offered. Follow-up support is provided to assist consumers with any problems that may arise after employment begins.
RAMP
PROGRAM: The Ramp Program utilizes the volunteer work of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers to build ramps for persons who need them in the Little Rock area. In order to participate in the Ramp Program, a person must live within the Little Rock City Limits and meet specific income guidelines. Ramps are built according to ADA standard guidelines. Contact the Ramps Coordinator at Mainstream for further details.
VOTER REGISTRATION: Mainstream is an authorized voter registration point. In order to receive help registering to vote or to make a name or address change, come to our offices during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
